Denotation and Connotation 2 (custom advertisement)

Image result for advert

Denotation
In the image of the advert I can see the company's logo and some people wearing furniture as clothes and a white horse which is being ridden by a person wearing a chandelier and a blanket or some other type of cloth in a forest.I can also see a pink rectangle that reads "shop now" this could be a button on a website which you can click and it will redirect you to the website or the advert is just trying to tell the audience or consumer to go shop at their store or use their website.

Connotation
The people wearing the furniture could show that their furniture quality is so good it is durable and that it is very fashionable to the point where you can wear the furniture as actual cosmetics or everyday use. There are different varieties of colour so that the shop can have unisex colours for both genders so that they can buy a piece of furniture that suits them or that they prefer or like.
The word "SHOP NOW" show that the consumer should look at their catalogue of items and see if they like anything they like or prefer, shop now could also be a button for the consumer or user to click on which will redirect the consumer to the website home page and will show what the website has to offer and all the information.

Analysis
The colour palette being used is a mix of vibrant and dark colours the "clothing" (furniture) have a colour palette of bright vibrant colours and can be eye-catching for the costumer or consumer. The company (Argos) have done this to show the different varieties of colours available in their store.
The dark colours are used on the forest part of the advertisement. The different varieties of colour show that their products can lots of different colours so it is suitable for both genders. This specific advertisement would be targeted to people who want to buy new furniture or because it is a shopping website you can get lots of things like electronics, furniture, clothing etc. as it can also be targeted to all kinds of people who can find what they are looking for in the website.

Denotation and connotation

Blog task: advert analysis

1) Write an analysis of the Water Aid advert above using denotation, connotation and analysis. What does the advert communicate to the audience?

Denotation
In this advert for water aid I can see a boy that is looking directly at the audience which could imply that he is in need of help and that he needs access to hygienic facilities ,and a text saying "Dig toilets Not graves" and the Water Aid logo on the top left corner of the advert which show the organisation in charge of this advert and project. The boy in the advert looks sad which means he is not happy with something, which in this case means that he is ill or has people dying around him or that he has no hygiene facilities. In the back round is shows a place which can probably be found in a developing country and that most developing countries can't really afford much hygienic products or facilities which then results in people falling ill then in some serious cases ill people dying.

Connotation
The typography is used to show how clean the place would be if they had more toilets and toilets are usually white and so that the graves are caused by not having clean good hygiene facilities and how the people die from the lack of hygiene that is provided. From the phrase "Dig toilets Not Graves" this implies that they want people to make more toilets so that the people who don't have them and can get them so they can have good hygiene and they don't die from from all the germs and bacteria that is spread everywhere to all the other people.

Analysis
The colour pallet used is a range of dull colours, the big text used is used contains the colour white, usually white is showed as pure and clean so that when the company build more toilets, the people have a more clean environment instead of germs and bacteria being everywhere and infecting everyone around them, the boy's clothes seem a bit dusty and ragged which means that he hasn't had his clothes washed or that he has very old clothes which have been used for many years and to the point where they become very ragged and old.

Key Concepts homework blog task

1) Find a film poster of your choice (use Google images) and add it to your blog post. You'll need to save it to My Pictures or a similar folder and then import the image using the 'insert image' icon in Blogger.

2) Write an analysis of the film poster on your blog using the four key media concepts: language, industries, audience and representation.
Related image
2)

Language:
How you can tell this is a film poster is by the small text in the bottom right hand corner it says coming soon and movies that say coming soon usually mean that they are new to the cinema (even thought this movie was made in 9 December 2005) and it also has a list of people and producers at the bottom who acted or helped in the effects or help edit the movie in a way.

Industries:
The people who had made this movie was Warner Bros studios which they called this movie "conceptual art". Warner Bros studio was known for TV programs, films and games the most popular movie produced form warner bros studio would be "The dark Knight rises" a film about batman.

Audience:
The target audience would be adults or people over 15 as it seems like an action film including warriors and fighting, and usually fighting films have some blood and gore so it wouldn't be suitable for younger audiences to watch this film as it may contain disturbing content for them. The film looks like it would be targeted toward older audience who seek lots of blood and gore and lots of violence and fighting,

Representation:
From a review it says "In its essence, 300 is a retelling of Herodotos' account of the battle of Thermopylai (480 BC)". This movie poster seems as if a major war is happening. The man in the front of the movie poster seems very strong and as if he is the commander of the war group, how you can tell this man is very strong is by how he has a very muscular body and how he isn't wearing any armour, the only thing he seems to wear in the movie poster is a red cape and a pair of pants that has a dagger holster attached to is.

9) Why was the casting of Jodie Whittaker a significant moment in the history of Doctor Who?
Because she was the first female doctor to ever exist in the series of the doctor who episodes
10) What aspects of this scene do you think an audience might enjoy? List at least three things and explain why the audience would enjoy each aspect.
I think that the audience would enjoy the part where the 12th doctor regenerates into a female character because this would be the first female doctor.
Another part that would be interesting is the part on how the old doctor is trying to regenerate in a specific way by telling the machine and then the machine shocks the doctor therefore transforming the doctor.
And the last exciting bit would be when the doctor falls and the show, shows a to be continues screen to give it a cliffhanger so that people are bound to watch it if they are interested
Extension question: What can you spot in Doctor Who that you will find in most television dramas? (E.g. characters, dramatic music etc.) These are called key conventions - list as many as you can think of.
The dramatic music how dramatic the doctor is when he is very old and falling over indicating he is very old, and how the doctors reaction is when the doctor regeneratesExtension question 2: What would a Doctor Who fan ('Whovian') particularly enjoy about this scene?
They would enjoy the old doctor talking about talking about the qualities a doctor should have so they are suitable for the job, another part they would enjoy would be the doctor regenerating into a female as of the whole series the 12th doctor is the first female doctor, and the last thing they would enjoy is the to be continued screen as it crates suspense and makes the consumer (the person watching the show) more excited about watching the show.
