camera movement

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdYy_7rsLKk

This is a clip form the show called Friends which was made in 22nd September 1994 it is a comedy based TV show which includes 6 main characters.

At the specific time frame of 0:48 when the man gets up from his chair the camera is tracking him, this is called a dolly shot this is to show where he is and what he is saying, so say for example he stands up then he starts talking then he would be out of the shot and we wont be able to see any facial expressions if that is he did make any. The effect of this would be that the audience can focus on who is saying what and how they are saying it and so that they can see any facial expressions made or anything else which may be appealing to the audience.

In the video shown at the specific time frame at 2:04 is a "dissolve shot" this is called a dissolve shot because the shot often melts into another shot in this case the effect of this dissolve shot was used to show the passing of time form when the two people went out to move the cheesecake away.

At 4:52 of the video you can see that there is a small dissolve shot and a zoom the effect of this is that when something zooms out we can tell in a way something is going to happen behind the characters but in this case their friend came along and "helped" them eat the cheesecake.

You can see a cut near the end of the video at 5:01 and 5:03 there is a cut to their faces then there is a cut to the third persons face at 5:08 then there is a dolly that follows on with that as the man squats down to the floor.the effect of this is to show the sudden facial expressions or a moment of awkwardness between the three people except the third person just goes to the floor and eat the cheesecake aswell.

In the picture 1 the type of picture trying to be shown is an establishing shot as it shows where the event is taking place but not entirely as the person taking the photo has taken the picture too close but enough to kind of call it an establishing shot as it shows the two characters and where the event is taking place. It also has a two shot mixed in together.

Later in picture 2 you can see the person at the bottom of of the establishing shot in a long shot as you can see the character from bottom to top and you can identify where he is as it still shows the back round.

In picture 3 it has half of a medium shot on the person at the bottom as you can only see half of his body but as the person taking the pictures has taken the picture from a far distance this doesn't make out for a medium shot. And yet again it is a two shot...

(Pictures 1,3,4,5,6 all include two shots yet again the person who took the photos didn't take them form certain distances I also didn't take any of these pictures)

The only unique shot that was taken was picture 7 which is a book but the shot is a close up as it is close to the book.(Usually close ups are used to show characters facial features, emotional reaction etc.)

Mise-en-scene: Blog task

Costume:
The costume used in this preview of the movie would be a white lab coat and trousers for the scientist at the beginning of the preview, the children wear ragged street casual type clothes with a different color of clothes and a baseball cap which is being worn by one of the kids in the preview the different type of colors are vibrant and a bit dull at the same time being mixed of old casual street clothes in the 1900's

Setting:
The series of stranger things is set in 1983 America where there is a strange power deficiency at the energy lab and it is also set in a suburban neighborhood with a bunch of kids who live next to each other and play board games and go cycling around in the neighborhood. In the beginning of the preview the kids are playing a board game and then they have to leave, in this scene the specific time of day is in the night time where everything is hard to see properly and the roads aren't well lit so the children have to use electric lights on their bikes in order to ride around in the dark.

Lighting:
The lighting being represented in the lab of the energy lab would be bright and flickering as something is pursuing the scientist and the scientist is rushing to the lift.
The lighting in the basement of where the kids are playing their board game is surprisingly well lit for a basement as there is a vibrant light in the basement.(This could represent the importance of the character being the protagonist)
The lighting being shown in the living room is only the TV providing a blue glow and the kitchen having lots of light so that the mother can see what she is doing when she is cooking food.
The outside is all dark as it is late in the night time and the only light being provided is the lights on the kids bike. The kid that is being pursued to his house is dark and that the only source of light is the moonlight from the outside. In the shed there is lots of light as the shed is a small area being lit by a small light.
