Through Youtube

It allows anyone to upload any music that they made
3) What is P2P and why did it cause huge problems for the music industry?

It means Peer to peer, this caused alot of problems as it made people share the content every where and anyone

Arctic Monkeys: Industry


1) How did the Arctic Monkeys first achieve success and build up their fanbase?

They posted their song on the internet which then got a  lot of attention
2) Why was P2P file sharing an unexpected aspect to Arctic Monkeys' early success?
Because they weren't aware of it them selves
3) How does the rise of Arctic Monkeys differ from how One Direction were formed and became famous?
One direction was formed by the x factor judge Simon and Arctic monkeys were formed by having attention form the internet
4) How has technological convergence changed the music industry?
It allows everyone to become something that could be later well known if it gets enough attention
5) Has the internet been a positive or negative development for traditional record companies? Why?
It has a mix of negative and positive as it allows many people to post things of them doing daily activities or singing or playing music, another thing would be there are many people and they might not notice it and there can be negative comments and feeling towards the people who make the content.

The audiences could be white middle classed and some what young adults or people, the psychographics could be about reformers and explorers and people who have recently made a big hit or has had a big success in their recent product. 
2) What audience pleasures are offered by the music video for I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor?

Its fast paced and up beat which would give an effect of excitement
3) Pick out three particular shots, scenes or moments in the video that would particularly appeal to Arctic Monkeys fans. Why did you choose those moments?

The one where he is singing and there is a light behind him which kind of makes the video bright, this shows the highlight and all of the attention he is getting as the light is directly on him, another onw would be the close up on the guitar and the bass guitar which could show that they are actually playing and it's not just some pre recorded sham, another shot would be the audience on the side as they seem to be enjoying the song as their heads are moving to the beat.
4) What is nostalgia and why is it a key audience pleasure for the Arctic Monkeys music video?

Because it is an old song and there are many people who may have listen to it when they were younger and they might enjoy it as a nostalgic ting
5) How are fans positioned to respond to the video? What does the artist want fans to take from their video?

So that they can post it around the internet and when that gets posted all over they will be recognized and much faster than other ways of getting recognition

it talks about how they didn't focus on design but them buring copies and leaving them on the bus and how they uploaded it verywhere like myspace and other things, it shows the success of them being a big hit at the time,

They sold more than 360,000 copies, and how they got to outsell the 20 best music albums which shows the success and the quotes saying that the success was real and not arranged by anyone
Read this short blog on how the social media website Myspace helped the Arctic Monkeys make it big. What did the website allow the band to do?It allowed them to advertise their band by sharing their music through out the website, they sold their albums through out the website and many other shared with other people then they later came to them to buy it.


Finally, read this short Guardian feature asking if Arctic Monkeys changed the music industry. What does the article suggest? in a way they did change the music industry and as they advertised it to alot of people later they got to the alternate XFM radio station where they play "i bet you look good on the dance floor" 250 times since september where they sold out the top london revenue and the tickets which where sold for £100 each.

They show regret of some sort as Simon says "sorry for making you famous" At the time he had taken them into his team, people believed that he exploited them but them later he said that he wasn't a part of it anymore, more of a person not being invited to a party kind of thing
